Hmm not ideal

For the first time since I started back at work I find myself on the
train crying.

Actually that's not entirely true, but it's the first time leaving
Isobel at nursery while I trot off to work has broken my heart so
badly.

Little girl used to practically dismiss me with her wave and kisses
bye bye, now she can't even be consoled by toast.

Today she wasn't even consoled by cuddles.

I just have to hand her over and dash to minimise both our trauma.

Today I couldn't even bear to look back through the window.

I'm sure I'll get a call later telling me she's fine. (I think my
tears told the nursery I wasn't!)

Poor you. I'm fairly sure Rosemary went through a short period of separation anxiety at about the same age and didn't want to go off with my mum, but she very quickly calmed down. I think it's the first signs of the conflict they have between wanting to try and be more independent, but not wanting to be without you.

I have a friend who cries for almost the whole hour drive to work when she leaves her little one, and has done ever since she went back to work 6 months ago, so I suppose you could be grateful that you've managed so well so far? Probably doesn't help.
